Introduction to Aeronautical Engineering

Aeronautical Engineering is one of the two parts of Aerospace Engineering involved with the study, design, development and manufacturing of machines which are capable of airlift within atmospheric territory of earth like Aeroplanes, Helicopters, Drones and Jets. The course constitute mechanical elements of aerospace Engineering and study of effect of various parameters like aerodynamics, temperature, altitude, propulsion, thrust etc. on aircrafts and to design the aircrafts and their sub-systems accordingly. Moreover, the studies and training conducted in Aeronautical Engineering makes the disciples competent for supervision of maintenance of mechanical parts & sub-systems, overhauling, testing, pre-flight inspection, technical assistance and providing manufacturing facilities etc. of various types of aircrafts.

Courses in Aeronautical Engineering

The studies in Aeronautics is conducted either as Diploma, Under Graduate, Post Graduate and Doctoral programmes. As understood, the level of competency & knowledge of disciples enhanced with hierarchy of courses and accordingly the nature of duties, responsibility and remuneration got fixed.

  • Diploma in Aeronautics                   Duration – 3 Years

General Eligibility Criteria- The candidate must qualified 10th / 12th (PCM) from any recognised board of School education or complete ITI in any of the requisite trade for lateral entry.

  • Bachelor in Aeronautical Engineering

B.E/ B.Tech Aeronautical Engineering            Duration- 4 years

General Eligibility Criteria- The student must passed out 12th class with mathematics as one of the subjects of study (PCM/ PCMB) or has completed Diploma in Aeronautics for getting admission through lateral entry.

  • Master in Aeronautical Engineering

M.Tech Aeronautical Engineering                      Duration – 2 years

General eligibility criteria- The aspirant must completed B.E/ B.Tech in Aeronautical Engineering/ Aerospace Engineering/ Mechanical Engineering/ Mechatronics / Electrical & Electronics Engineering. Following are some of the disciplines available for specialisation in M.Tech:
